Bike Room Bliss
This project was so fun, because it was a surprise for one very lucky hubby! An avid cyclist, who loves to have ALL the gear, his bike room had gotten out of control and was overrun with miscellaneous tools, craft projects, and broken equipment. His work bench was cluttered beyond recognition, and he was no longer able to work on his bikes. His lovely wife, my client, decided to surprise him by uncovering and rebuilding his once-favorite room in the house!
Like most of my projects, I began by sorting and putting like with like. Now I am no tool expert, but I was able to see which pieces were similar and fit together. I filled two large trash bags with broken metal pieces for recycling, and created a pile for technical clothing and bike gear. Once the room had been sorted, i decluttered anything that was old, cracked, or hadn’t been used in over 10 years (!).
Having sorted and decluttered, I re-zoned the room to focus on the work bench and bike storage. I was even able to stage a set of shelves to look more like a sporting goods store, and create some space for any new items. I was able to make the workbench look inviting, exciting, and ready for repairs. There really is nothing like a clean slate! Wipe the slate clean to make it ready for whatever projects come next, and whatever room you need to breathe, explore, and relax.
