Entertaining Kitchenette
If we are lucky enough to have a finished basement, hopefully we are also lucky enough to have a kitchenette in said basement! My client had an amazing space that wasn’t being utilized to its full potential. She wanted to create a space where her family could spend time together, and where they could host friends on New Year’s Eve. Her finished basement has an attached kitchenette, complete with mini fridge and microwave! Why go all the away upstairs, when you can just make cocktails and pop popcorn in your entertaining space?!
For this project, I started with a MAJOR declutter! Overflow toys, wrapping supplies, and expired food found its way to a new home or the trash. This was the bulk of the project. By sorting and decluttering, I was able to create ample space for the entertaining items that were being kept, and I found the floor! Additionally, I cleared out a small storage space underneath the stairs for household tools and paint that couldn’t be stored in the garage, opening up an entirely new efficiency space for handy household fix-it items that is easily accessible. This space now serves as a useful hub for family time, DIY time, and game night with friends.
The best part about this project is that it was completed pre-New year’s Eve AND pre-quarantine. So, my client was able to have the NYE celebration she dreamed if, and is now is enjoying a vital gathering space for her and her family. By committing to create space of the life she deserved, she created a space that will nurture her, and provide peaceful solace and refuge, through even the toughest of times. If that isn’t a win-win, I don’t know what is!
